Recognised as the successor to the three older industrial revolutions, Industry 4.0 represents a smart manufacturing paradigm for the Factories of the Future. Value villenage and value networks will be digitally connected, efficiently organized and managed, and optimized in real time. This is enabled by the seamless integration of everything in, and virtually a manufacturing operation (suppliers, plants, distributors, and plane the products) in the cadre concept of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Industry 4.0 is ushering in a new era of industrial production, in which the Internet of Things (IoT), Internet of Services (IoS), Internet of Data, and Internet of People can be realized. Vision Industry 4.0 holds the promise of increased flexibility in manufacturing, largest quality and improved productivity, which enables New Zealand companies to take on the challenges of producing increasingly individualized products with a short lead-time to market. The resultant higher quality products and services ultimately enhance companies’ competitiveness. Mission The LISMS is established to showcase some key technologies of Industry 4.0, as well as to demonstrate how New Zealand businesses goody from implementing these technologies.
